On Tuesday, August 11, 2015, the 17th annual Back to School distribution event was hosted at the historic Santa Anita Park with more than 1,000 K-12 low income students were provided with all the tools and supplies for a successful start to a new school year.  Each pre-registered  child received a brand new  back pack, school supplies, clothing, shoe card, haircut, manicure and needed vision and dental screenings.  The dental screenings were provided by the USC School of Dentistry and the vision screenings were provided by CHAP Care (California health Alliance of Pasadena).  This event was made possible by a community effort of individuals, businesses, faith based and civic organizations.  Corporate sponsors included 3M Unitek, Amada Miyachi America, CarMax, Costco, ELS Outlet, Georgina-Fredrick Children’s Foundation, Green Dot, Home Street Bank, Kaiser Permanente, Marshalls/TJX Company, Monrovian Family Restaurant, Santa Anita Park , Southern California Edison, Target, TOGOs, Tzu Chi Foundation, Volunteer Center of San Gabriel Valley, Wells Fargo, and Whole Foods/Pasadena Hastings Ranch.
