Nearly 1,400 low-income families, including more than 1,700 children, received a helping of cheer at the Center’s 21st Annual Holiday Distribution. The event was held in Ayers Hall at the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia (Saturday 12/21) and at the Center’s Monrovia and Pasadena locations (Monday 12/23). Client families came from across our eleven-city service area. Simplicity Bank, Volunteer Center of the San Gabriel Valley and Southern California Gas Company all presented $1,000 checks for the event.

Families took home holiday food boxes packed by family size. Some 600-700 volunteers worked the event, from planning and preparation to final cleanup. Each family was accompanied through the distribution by a cart escort. On the Saturday distribution, each family also took home an opaque bag prepacked with new toys and clothing that each child had wished for via our Adopt an Angel program. There were instant photos with Santa and a live caroler courtesy LA PartyWorks, ornament decorating with Paint ‘n’ Play, and frames and other gifts from the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women and Simply Help.
