Food Program

Many neighbors in our community are one job loss or medical crisis away from food insecurity. Foothill Unity Center leads the fight against hunger and poor nutrition in the San Gabriel Foothills through our food distribution, community kitchen and nutrition education programs. Our Food Program translates to 3 million pounds of food annually through daily distributions that include: Bag lunches and hygiene kits to our unhoused community, homebound grocery deliveries for seniors and disabled persons, emergency food distributions to those that have the ability to cook and store ingredients, and pet food for those who need a little extra help to feed their beloved furry family members.

Nutritious Food Pantry

In 2021, after a year and a half of extensive training, our Center was awarded the title of Nutritious Food Pantry by LA Regional Food Bank. Our goal is to improve the lives and health of our neighbors in need through education and distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables.

FOOD SERVICES

Community Members Who Can Store and Cook Ingredients

Food distributions are available to clients three days a week at both our Monrovia and Pasadena locations. The volume and variety of available food depends on what we receive from our donors and partners, but we try to provide fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and bread whenever possible. Once per month, clients are able to receive a fresh or frozen protein item like meat or fish, when available. Clients can receive food through drive-thru or walk up with their own bags, wagons, or other means to transport the food home.

Monrovia: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9am-11:30am.

Pasadena: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9-11:30am.

Unhoused Community

For those who are unhoused without the amenities to store or to cook food ingredients are welcome to come pick up bagged lunches that are packaged to feed a person over 1 to 2 days. These lunches can be accessed up to three times per week. A freshly prepared breakfast is also available at our Monrovia location on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9-11:30am. Personal hygiene kits are also available and can be picked up once per week.

Homebound Grocery Deliveries

With the help of volunteers and part-time drivers, Foothill Unity Center makes it a point to reach our neighbors who are unable to attend our food distributions, including homebound seniors and disabled persons, by delivering groceries to their homes once a month.

Pet Food Bank

The goal of our Pet Food Bank is to provide our neighbors who have pets a little extra bit of help. Pet food is available at our food distributions on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on donations we receive from individuals, retailers, and businesses throughout the community.
