Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Every Year, between February and April, Foothill Unity Center and our volunteer partners provide free tax preparation through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to those who qualify ( low-to-moderate income individuals/families, senior citizens, persons with disability, those who have limited English proficiency, and others who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.)
We also provide Free Training to Become an IRS-certified (VITA) Volunteer, where volunteers learn to prepare taxes and help the community at the same time, while increasing their own financial literacy and others’ through different capacities (greeters/screeners, Interpreters, Tax preparers, Quality reviewers)

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) helps low to moderate-income workers and families get a tax break. Claiming the credit can reduce the tax you owe and may also give you a larger refund. In 2022, eligible workers received an average EITC amount of $2,043.
