Adopt an Angel and Grant a Child’s Gift Wishes!
It’s hard enough not to be able to give your children gifts for the holidays. But it can be just as hard to watch as they get toys from a charity.
At Foothill Unity Center, we do it another way. Every holiday season, we send hundreds of paper angels out into our communities. Each one has been lovingly hand-colored by volunteers from local schools and community groups. Each carries the real holiday gift wishes of a single child.
Some of our friends adopt one angel and buy its gifts. Others, including businesses, clubs and community groups, adopt whole flights of angels, filling wishes by the score.
As our angels return to us with their unwrapped presents, we create a gift bag for each family and give it to the parents during our annual Holiday Distribution. The bags are opaque, so kids can’t see what’s inside — allowing families to wrap and give the gifts as part of their own holiday traditions.
