Meet Lamar, one of our senior volunteers who found Foothill Unity Center through a volunteer flyer at his local library. He currently volunteers at the Pasadena location, generously offering his assistance three times a week to help distribute food to those in need. Lamar is passionate about giving back to his community and helping other homebound individuals.

Lamar expressed, “  I want to help people and I’m in a position where I’m able to give up myself now and I also like working around seniors. I like giving them food and taking it to their homes or wherever they live in the home-bound section. I love it, I really do. Every day I show up and look forward to coming here.”

Lamar revealed that volunteering has opened a gateway of opportunities for him. He firmly believes that it has positively impacted his mental health and energized him to get his day started.

“I just feel so good in a place where I want to be. There are not too many places you go to where you look forward to coming every morning.  I’m doing something that I really wanted to do in life and the door wasn’t open until now.” he expressed.

We are grateful to have volunteers such as Lamar who graciously dedicates his time to help others in need. His commitment and passion serve as an inspiration to us all!
