Emiko is known as the middleman for pets to help them find their forever home. She often receives puppies, kittens, or lost pets in need of a new home. Her dedication to ensuring that they receive all the necessary care while waiting for their new families is well-known among her friends and family.

Since coming to Foothill Unity Center, she has taken advantage of our pet food bank to receive essential pet food and resources and also our monthly vet clinic services which are provided by Pasadena Humane. During one of her visits, she told us how she saved her dog, MacGyver.

While MacGyver’s mother was giving birth, the momma dog had already given birth to a stillborn leaving the last puppy the only one with a chance of survival. With the puppy’s hind legs coming out first, Emiko assisted by gently and steadily pulling at a downward angle until it was fully delivered. Emiko thought it was a successful delivery, but the newborn puppy was not breathing. With time passing by fast, Emiko’s friend urgently looked online for what to do. With quick instructions, Emiko wrapped the puppy in a towel and began vigorously rubbing its back while providing CPR. After a few tense minutes, the puppy let out a yelp and started breathing on its own again. Cheering with joy, Emiko named the miracle baby, Macgyver, and took him in as her own.

We are grateful to be able to serve clients like Emiko that cares so much for her pets!
